The Map My Cousins Points Of Interest (POI) text box supports an advanced set of search functionality that allows you to explore and discover the neighborhood and region your family lived in to uncover important points of interest to better understand where your family came from and support your genealogy research 1. Once you’ve started up the Map My Cousins application and have imported your GEDCOM file, your page will look like the picture below. 2. There are 2 important controls on this page, labeled on the diagram: the Family Member Event icon and the Point Of Interest Search text box. 3. If you click on a family member event icon, you will see a text box that shows the family member name, evernt type (birth, death, residence, etc), location and year. 4. The location of the Family Member event can be used in the Point Of Interest search along with keywords to help refine your search in this area. A list of top matches will come up as you enter the text. The following screen shot shows an example of this. A broader list of search keywords include the following.
